These adorable goats caught my eye when I was first looking into what livestock I’d want on the farm. Smaller size and a high milk butterfat content sounded like just what I was after! Since purchasing our first does in 2023, we have learned a lot about Nigerian Dwarves and have fallen in love with the breed even more. Our goals in breeding ADGA registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats are to produce high-producing, easily-milkable, and friendly Nigerian Dwarves with the conformation and genetics to stay healthy and happy for their entire lives. Maintaining the breed standard and keeping quality over quantity first and foremost has become a primary purpose in our breeding program. Producing these animals in a competitive market means upholding your personal desires means appealing well to our community and creating Nigerian Dwarf milking goats that can provide milk for your family; our number one hope behind every pairing. These goats are perfect for homesteaders for many reasons. Their superior size means lower feed costs, less grain required, and significantly easier handling. You don’t need a trailer to transport Nigerian Dwarves and they can easily be lifted like a sack of feed. Their attitudes are seriously sassy but also very sweet. My herd has been honed into animals that like to be around me and you and produce kids that feel the same. I hope you’ll fall in love with Nigerian Dwarves as much as we have!
Currently, we do plan to milk test through the ADGA, participate in linear appraisal when we get an opportunity to do so, and actively participate in ADGA shows to learn about what we can do better with our Nigerian Dwarves and prove their capabilities starting in 2027.
We vaccinate our goats with the CD/T vaccine and we deworm once yearly pre-kidding season and as needed with Safeguard Goat Dewormer. We disbud our goats for safer livestock for both you and the animal.
We feed Kalmbach Milk Maker dairy grain, Standlee Organic Alfalfa pellets, and quality second-cutting alfalfa-grass hay to our milking does. We provide Kalmbach Kid Start-Right grain and Calf-Manna to our growing kids. The Kalmbach Kid Start-Right grain offers preventative measures against coccidia which easily hinders growth in young kids. Our bucks get supplemental alfalfa pellets and dairy grain pre-breeding season to help them bulk up and maintain great body condition. We supply Redmond Goat Rocks and Sweetlix Meat-Maker loose minerals to keep our goats shiny, healthy, and producing milk.
