Every spring we raise pullets to the feathered-out stage of life to offer laying hens to our community without the hassle and mess of chicks. These pullets are quality birds from Murray McMurray Hatchery and are fed local chick starter feed. They are ready to join your coop outside at eight weeks old and will usually start laying by 18-24 weeks, providing fresh eggs from your own yard!
We offer a wide selection from hens that lay a variety of vibrant colors to high-production layers that will supply a lot of eggs for your family and friends. If you are interested in a breed not listed, reach out! We will place a special order for 10 or more chicks of a non-listed breed with a deposit.
For more info, see the policy and sales agreement below.
Policies and Sales Agreement
Every order requires a half deposit of the full price to hold your pullets. The deposit is nonrefundable except in the circumstances listed:
The “pullet” goes home and is a rooster. A full refund of the price will be issued or, if possible, replacement with a pullet of equal value.
The chick dies before reaching eight weeks. Unlikely but chicks are fragile and unpredictable issues, such as weather changes during shipment, can occur. A full refund will be issued or a replacement will be offered.
For purchases greater than 10 pullets the price will be adjusted to $5 off per pullet (i.e. $20 per bird becomes $15 per bird).
If there is a breed supplied by Murray McMurray Hatchery that you would like, a purchase of 10 or more chicks can be special ordered. I have limited space yearly for extra chicks so the sooner you let me know the more likely I will be to accommodate.
All pullets are guaranteed healthy and in good condition at time of leaving Golden Shepherd Farm. Any issues that arise after they leave are the responsibility of the new owners.
*We expect to begin raising chicks around March.
